Amaravati, Mar 30: A heart-wrenching tragedy struck Andhra Pradesh’s Satya Sai district on Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, as four members of a goldsmith’s family were found dead in an apparent case of suicide.
The victims, identified as 55-year-old Krishnama Chary, his wife Saralamma, and their two sons, Santosh and Bhuvanesh, were discovered lifeless at their residence in Madakasira town on Sunday morning.
Upon receiving the distressing news, police arrived at the scene and transported the bodies to a government hospital for autopsy. According to reports, Santosh and Bhuvanesh were students of Class 10 and Class 6, respectively.

The devastating discovery was made by Krishnama Chary’s father, who had gone to check on the family and was met with a harrowing sight. He immediately alerted relatives and informed the authorities.
Suspected Cyanide Poisoning
Initial investigations suggest that the family may have ingested cyanide, a chemical commonly used in gold purification. A bottle of the substance was recovered from the house, raising suspicions that it played a role in their deaths. Police are also investigating whether the parents took their own lives after first taking the lives of their children.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an in-depth probe, recording statements from relatives to uncover the underlying cause of the tragedy. Preliminary findings indicate that financial distress and personal issues may have driven the family to take such a drastic step.
