Mumbai, Mar 26: Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Shiv Sena-UBT leader Aditya Thackeray after Disha Salian’s father named him, along with actors Dino Morea and Suraj Pancholi, in a complaint filed with the Mumbai Police Commissioner.

The demand gained momentum when Shiv Sena leader Bhavana Gawli raised the issue in the Legislative Council, calling for a narco test on Thackeray in connection with the case. Gaikwad, echoing similar sentiments, urged the state government to clarify its position and insisted that Thackeray should step down.

Even before Gaikwad could complete his speech, members of the ruling Mahayuti alliance stormed into the Well of the House, demanding Thackeray’s resignation. Amidst the uproar, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar adjourned the House for ten minutes. However, when proceedings resumed, treasury bench members persisted with their demand.

Shiv Sena Minister Sambhuraj Desai addressed the Assembly, confirming that Disha Salian’s father had filed a complaint naming Thackeray. He assured that the government remains firm on its commitment to justice, stating, “In the case of Massajog Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh’s killing, the government was clear that no one would be spared. Similarly, in the Disha Salian case, justice will prevail.”

Desai informed the House that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe is ongoing and that the case is pending before the High Court. He further added that the SIT’s findings will be submitted to the court, and any action will be taken based on the court’s directions. Following his statement, the ruling alliance members relented, allowing the proceedings to continue smoothly.

On Tuesday, Nilesh Ojha, the lawyer representing Disha Salian’s father, told reporters that their complaint had been formally accepted by the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and was incorporated into an FIR. Ojha alleged that several individuals, including Aditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Suraj Pancholi, his bodyguard, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, former cop Sachin Vaze, and actress Rhea Chakraborty, were named as accused in the case.

Ojha further claimed that Parambir Singh played a key role in covering up the case, intensifying the controversy surrounding the high-profile investigation.
