Panaji, Mar 14: The Union government has assured that full-scale mining activities will resume in Goa within the next six months, bringing much-needed relief to the state’s economy and stakeholder’s dependent on the sector.
Addressing concerns over delays, union minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi stated that all necessary clearances and procedures are being expedited to facilitate the revival of mining operations. He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring sustainable and legally compliant mining activities.

The assurance comes after prolonged uncertainty following the Supreme Court’s ban on illegal mining in 2018. The Goa government, in coordination with the Centre, has been working on policy measures and auctioning mining leases to restart operations.
Stakeholders, including industry bodies and local workers, have welcomed the announcement, hoping for economic revival and employment generation. The mining sector has been a crucial contributor to Goa’s economy, and its resumption is expected to provide a major boost to various allied industries.
