New Delhi, Mar 12: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has been discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, after a three-day hospital stay for health concerns.
The 73-year-old leader was admitted in the early hours of March 9 after experiencing chest discomfort. He was immediately placed under the care of Dr. Rajiv Narang, Head of Cardiology, in the Critical Care Unit (CCU). A medical procedure, including the implantation of a stent, was successfully carried out, stabilizing his condition and enabling his release on March 12.

Their dedication ensured a smooth recovery. I am also grateful for the concern and good wishes from people across India and beyond. Your support has been truly heartening.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda visited AIIMS on the day of Dhankhar’s admission to check on his health and wish him a swift recovery. PM Modi later shared his concern on X, stating, "Went to AIIMS and enquired about the health of Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji. I pray for his good health and speedy recovery."
Other leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also conveyed their prayers and well wishes.
Dhankhar, who has held the office of Vice President since August 11, 2022, has had a distinguished political career. Before assuming his current role, he served as the Governor of West Bengal and was previously a Member of Parliament from Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu constituency.
Following his recovery, the Vice President is expected to resume his official duties soon.
