Bengaluru, Mar 11: MLA K Gopalaiah has urged the government to allocate funds for the annual Rani Abbakka Utsava.
Speaking at the Rani Abbakka Utsava organized jointly by the Rani Abbakka Pratishtana and the George Fernandes Vedike at Mahalakshmi Layout on March 9, Gopalaiah said he would soon meet the speaker to submit a formal request regarding the grant. He also recalled the challenges faced in constructing a stadium in Mahalakshmi Layout in the name of Ullal’s warrior queen, Rani Abbakka.
Karnataka legislative assembly speaker U T Khader, who was also present, emphasized the importance of organizing more such events. The event featured a grand cultural celebration throughout the day, including various sports competitions. A floral tribute was offered to the statue of Rani Abbakka.


















During the event, the Rani Abbakka Award was conferred upon Anitha Surendrakumar. Several dignitaries, including K Gopalaiah, Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, K V Rajendra Kumar, and Dr Ballal, were present.
Descendants of Rani Abbakka, including Anitha Surendrakumar and Hemalatha Gopalaiah, along with Puttur MLA Ashok Rai, labor leader Felix D’Souza, former deputy mayor S Harish, former president of Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkoota Dharmapal Devanga, Rani Chennamma Pratishtana president K V Rajendra Kumar, and Dr Ballal, were also present.
On the occasion, both Anitha Surendrakumar and Tejaswini Ananth Kumar were honored with the Rani Abbakka Award.
