Hyderabad, Feb 19 (IANS): A lawyer practicing at the Secunderabad City Civil & Criminal Court tragically collapsed and died on Wednesday, marking the second such death in the city within two days.

B. Venkata Ramana, 58, was at the Indian Bank's Marredpally Branch to pay a challan when he suddenly collapsed, sustaining severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is suspected that he may have suffered a cardiac arrest.

This incident follows the death of lawyer Pasnooru Venugopal Rao, who passed away on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack while arguing a case before the Telangana High Court. Rao, aged 66, had been practicing law since 1998. Despite efforts from fellow advocates to administer CPR and rush him to Osmania Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.

The sudden deaths of two lawyers in such a short span have shocked the legal community in Hyderabad. Many have raised concerns about the increasing number of sudden cardiac arrests, particularly among professionals under significant work stress.

This follows similar tragedies, such as the death of Congress leader Ravi Chandran in Karnataka last year, who collapsed from a heart attack during a press conference. Alarmingly, an increasing number of younger individuals have also been victims of sudden heart attacks while engaging in routine activities like exercising or playing sports. The rise in such incidents has led to growing concerns about the potential links between stress, work pressure, and heart health.
