Mangaluru, Feb 3: Peace Day was celebrated in St Ann's High school on January 30 by the students of std 8B and also observed Martyrs’ Day to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the nation who was assassinated on this day in 1948.
The programme commenced by a short skit which focussed on explaining what is peace day and its need in the present day giving the value that peace needs to be developed from self. It was then followed by a short prayer service. The virtues and values one needs to live in order to have peace in the surroundings was portrayed beautifully through a skit. A mesmerizing dance performance was then performed by the students depicting the virtues and values lived by Mahatma Gandhiji. A patriotic dance was then performed paying tribute to the soldiers who work hard to maintain peace in the country. A song was then sung melodiously.
The chief guest of the day's programme, Sr Rosemita AC, headmistress St Ann’s Higher Primary School inspired the students through her message and gave a call to be peacemakers and not peace breakers. The students who won prizes in the various events throughout the year were then felicitated by the chief guest and headmistress Sr Ruby D'Souza AC. Fathima Iffa welcomed the gathering and Mohammed Sazil rendered the vote of thanks.
