Mangaluru, Jan 27: Carmel School CBSE, Kotekar, celebrated the 76th Republic Day on January 26 with grandeur and a deep sense of patriotism. The celebration began with a warm welcome for the esteemed guests: Kiran Kumar, an urban planner from the department of Urban and Rural Planning; Sr Juliana Mary AC, joint secretary; Sr Sheetal AC, headmistress of Stella Maris Kannada Primary School; Sr Fidele AC, KG coordinator; Sr Anitha AC, vice principal of Carmel School; and Sabana, PTA vice president of Stella Maris Kannada Primary School. The guests were escorted to the venue by the school band, setting a ceremonious tone for the occasion.

The programme commenced with a heartfelt prayer song, invoking blessings and creating a solemn atmosphere. Sr Sheetal AC, headmistress of Stella Maris Kannada Primary School, delivered a warm and formal welcome address, followed by a graceful welcome dance by the students, setting the tone for the day’s celebrations.

The centerpiece of the event was the national flag hoisting ceremony. Kiran Kumar, along with other dignitaries, unfurled the national flag, symbolizing the pride and unity of the nation. The national anthem was sung in unison, evoking deep respect and reverence. This was followed by a collective recitation of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, reaffirming the commitment of all present to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

The cultural segment showcased the creativity and patriotism of the students. A soulful patriotic song resonated through the venue, stirring emotions of national pride. Students presented inspiring speeches and performances, highlighting the significance of Republic Day. The event's highlight was a stunning patriotic dance performance, which captivated the audience with its grace and fervor.

In his inspiring address, chief guest Kiran Kumar reflected on the importance of Republic Day as a celebration of India’s sovereignty and democratic values. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged the students to uphold the Constitution and actively contribute to the nation-building process. He also emphasized the importance of discipline, social responsibility, and civic engagement, appreciating the school for instilling these values in its students.
