Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Jan 6: An FIR has been filed against socio-spiritual influencer Meenakshi Shehrawat and event organiser for derogatory remarks made against Mahatma Gandhi.

Shehrawat, during a programme in Udupi on Saturday, January 4, had commented, “Gandhiji has been the reason for the birth of Pakistan along with Jinnah, so we will not consider him the father of the nation. For some reason, Shivaji Maharaj's Shiva Bhavani poem was banned just for 20% of the people, the Hindustani language was imposed on 80%, and Lord Sri Ramachandra was called Badshah Sri Ramachandra and Mata Sita as Begum Sita in Hindustani.

"Jinnah was referred to as Mr Jinnah. Vande Mataram was stopped for 20% of people. By promoting Ahimsa as Paramodharma, we are making our Hindus eunuchs. As many as 20 lac Hindus were killed in the name of non-violence, so we will never accept Gandhiji as the father of the nation,” she commented.

A suo motu complaint has been registered against Shehrawat and the event organiser at the Udupi town police station.

When she is spreading venom and hatred one can see so called men of God sitting and listening to this person when father of nation being insulted. Some people are commenting about freedom of speech for them I would say why people are arrested for criticising some of the BJP leaders and why there is a different standard for freedom of speech?. Why there is no freedom of press?.

Those who were born in recent years talk about events that happened 80 years ago as if they were present and part of the discussion. They present themselves as influencers. Every decision is right or wrong based on the situation; it feels right or sometimes wrong. Foolish people sometimes talk nonsense

Where is the freedom of speech? We have many great personalities in the history like Gandhi, Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Golvalkar, AB Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi etc etc. If you feel like respecting them, please go ahead and do it. But do not thrust divinity on them and make them Gods. If you make them Gods, then you will be offended when someone makes a rational comment on them!
