Mangaluru: Woman narrowly escapes as car catches fire

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Dec 17: In yet another car fire mishap in the city, a woman driver narrowly escaped unhurt on Monday December 16.

The woman, a resident near City Centre on K S Rao Road, returned home in her Hyundai car and parked it near her house. Moments later, the car caught fire. Locals attempted to extinguish the flames using water. Shortly after, fire service personnel from Pandeshwar arrived and successfully doused the fire. The front portion of the car, including the airbag, was severely damaged.

The fire is believed to have originated in the bonnet before spreading to the entire front section. Preliminary reports suggest a possible battery short circuit or technical fault as the cause of the fire.

The incident is one among several car fire cases reported in the city in recent months. On November 15, a moving car caught fire at Kadri and was completely gutted within minutes. On November 10, a Maruti 800 waiting for refuelling burst into flames. Earlier on September 28, a parked BMW car caught fire within seconds of being left on the roadside, and on September 5, another running BMW was engulfed in flames.

Thankfully, in all these mishaps, drivers and passengers escaped harm as they managed to get out in time.
