Mangaluru: MP Brijesh Chowta dubs Wakf scam as 'land jihad'

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada Capt Brijesh Chowta has sharply criticised the Wakf board land scam, dubbing the ongoing controversy as a "land jihad."

“Congress is still trapped in a colonial mindset, using Wakf as a political tool,” Chowta declared.

He revealed that in Mangaluru taluk alone, 37 properties have been misclassified as Wakf, with 50% being government-owned lands.

He accused Minority Affairs Minister Zameer Ahmed of acting under CM Siddaramaiah's orders, saying, “Wakf controls a massive land bank and yet it hasn't lifted Muslims above the poverty line. It’s a death sentence for our farmers. The Congress government must stop this misadventure and initiate a comprehensive investigation into the Wakf scam.”
