Puttur, Nov 1: St Philomena Autonomous College observed Ekta Diwas, a day dedicated to promoting unity and national integration, with an inspiring ‘Run for Unity’ in collaboration with the 3/19 Karnataka Battalion NCC and the 5 Karnataka Naval NCC unit. Students, NCC cadets, and the local public, are found rallying in a show of solidarity.
The ‘Run for Unity’ commenced from the college campus, winding its way to the prominent Father Patrao Circle before culminating at the main gate of the college. The ‘run’ symbolized the spirit of togetherness and commitment to national unity, echoing the ethos of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as National Unity Day or Ekta Diwas across the country.
Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the college, lauded the efforts of the cadets, commending their initiative in bringing the community together through such events. “This Unity Run is a fine example of how we, as an institution, can foster a spirit of unity and cooperation among our students and the local community,” he stated, inspiring cadets to continue leading by example.
Capt Johnson David Sequeira, army NCC officer, took charge of the organization of the event.
