Dharwad, Apr 19: The Karnataka Advocates Association, Dharwad Bench, has voiced strong opposition to the reported move to transfer four Karnataka High Court judges, urging Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna to reconsider the proposal.
In a letter addressed to the CJI on Friday, association president VM Sheelavant expressed deep concern over the rumoured transfer of Justices Krishna S Dixit, K Natarajan, Hemant Chandangoudar, and Sanjay Gowda to other High Courts across the country.

“The Bar members strongly protest the proposal,” the letter stated, describing the judges as highly respected figures known for their legal acumen, integrity, and commitment to justice.
Calling the development “deeply disheartening,” Sheelavant said the possible transfer would not only demoralize the judiciary but also adversely affect the litigant public and functioning of the High Court in Karnataka. He emphasized that the legal fraternity holds the judges in high regard and considers their transfer a “retrogressive step.”
“This move, if implemented, will strike at the morale of both the legal community and the public, and hamper the smooth working of the court,” the association warned.
The letter added that the Bar members are resolute in their stance and unwilling to see these judges transferred, urging that the interest of justice and efficiency be prioritized.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the Supreme Court Collegium regarding the proposed transfers.
