Mangalore, Nov 29: There have been several incidents wherein Daijiworld readers have helped the needy after reading appeals on the website. But there are also a few cases where readers help voluntarily, even without a formal appeal. Here is an incident where a reader, after going through the news on Daijiworld, realised the needs of a family that was pushed into a dire situation following a fire last week.
H Rathindranath of Shirdi Medical of Attavar first came across Gunakar's case through Daijiworld. Wasting no time, he contacted him and even visited his house.
It may be recalled that Gunakar's two-roomed house was gutted in fire last week. Daijiworld had highlighted the incident as a news item, along with pictures and details about Gunakar's situation.
As soon as he read the news, Rathindranath swung into action and contacted Gunakar. He visited his house, and pledged financial support in his personal capacity as well as on behalf of Hampanakatta Nagarika Dharmika Seva Samiti, of which he is the president.
Also, the owner of city's Laxmi Clothes Store decided to donate clothes for the family most of their clothes were gutted in the fire.

Rathindranath also told Daijiworld that as Gunakar's house does not have plastering on the walls, he would take up the task and get it done for him.
Rathindranath later handed over the promised amount at a religious programme of the Seva Samithi.
This is an ample example of how we can make a difference to society, by bringing a smile on the needy....
