Udupi, Sep 22: Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, and chairman of peace & justice, graced Christ School Manipal premises with a pastoral visit on the occasion of "International Peace Day".
The Bishop, who is also president of the school, offered prayers and was welcomed to the quadrangle through the Indian tradition of aarathi and kalasha, accompanied by a guard of honour from the school band. He was escorted with umbrellas and angels welcoming him.
To seek the blessings of the Almighty, the programme began with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome extended by the students through a welcome dance.
The Bishop was welcomed to the dais by Fr Romeo Lewis, principal Eliza Vaz, and the management committee. Principal Eliza Vaz then delivered the welcome address and presented the report on the activities, progress, and development of the students.
Dr Gerald Issac Lobo addressed the entire gathering of students, staff, and the management committee. He appreciated the school’s efforts and highlighted that students are the future of the nation.
The programme concluded with a thank you speech by Shiny.
School vice-president Lawrence D'Almeida, pastoral committee members and parishioners were also present on the occasion.
