Kundapur: Sinking boat rescued, fishermen saved in deep sea

Kundapur, Sep 22: A fishing boat, identified as "370," struck a wooden log in the deep sea near Kota and began sinking. Six fishermen aboard the boat were rescued by two other boats in the vicinity.

The fishermen—Basava Kharvi, Pramod, Bhaskar, Vaikunta, Shekhar, and Surya—were saved by the boatmen of Siddi and Brindavana boats, who were fishing in nearby waters.

In addition to rescuing the crew, the boatmen from Siddi and Brindavana successfully towed the sinking boat to Hangarakatte port. The boat sustained significant damage, with an estimated loss of Rs 25 lac. A case has been registered at Gangolli coast guard police station.
