New Delhi, Apr 22: In a significant achievement, 32 candidates from the Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) have been selected in the UPSC civil services exam 2024. Out of the 78 RCA students who appeared for the interview, 12 women have made it to the final list of selected candidates. Alfred Thomas emerged as the top performer from RCA, securing the All India 33rd rank, followed by Iram Choudhary at 40th and Ruchika Jha at 51st.

RCA, which was established in 2010 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under JMI’s Centre for Coaching and Career Planning (CC&CP), offers free coaching and residential facilities to students from socially and economically marginalized backgrounds, particularly SC, ST, women, and minority communities. This initiative has continued to empower students from across the country, helping them realize their aspirations of joining the Indian Civil Services.

Expressing immense pride in the success of the students, Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice Chancellor of JMI, said, “It is a matter of great pride that RCA JMI has achieved this remarkable feat. Their success strengthens our commitment to empowering aspirants from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly women.” He also highlighted the exceptional performance of female candidates, calling them role models for future aspirants.

The selected candidates are expected to secure positions in some of India’s most prestigious services, such as the IAS and IPS, while others are likely to be placed in IRS, Audit and Account Service, IRTS, and other Group-A services depending on their rankings and preferences.

Prof. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar of JMI, lauded the rigorous training provided at RCA, stating, “The UPSC 2024 results are a testament to the disciplined and comprehensive coaching that RCA offers to students preparing for one of the toughest exams in the country.”

The role of Prof. Samina Bano, In-charge of RCA, was also crucial in this success, with her personalized mentorship playing a key role in guiding the candidates. Since its establishment, RCA has produced over 300 civil servants, many of whom have secured positions in the IAS, IFS, and IPS. Among its star performers is Shruti Sharma, the topper of the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2021.

This continuous success of RCA underscores the academy’s dedication to excellence in civil services preparation, ensuring that students from all walks of life have the opportunity to serve the nation.
