Beltangady, Sep 20: The inauguration of the Commerce Association activities for the academic year 2024-25 at Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar, was held on Friday, September 20, in a grand ceremony. The event was presided over by Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira, principal of the college, with Sinu Abraham, a renowned tax consultant from Beltangady and a proud alumnus of the institution, as the chief guest.
Also gracing the dais were Prof Ishwar Gowda, head of the department of commerce, and Rose Priya Pinto, coordinator of the Commerce Association, along with the office bearers of the Commerce Association.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Mahammad Marzuk, president of the Commerce Association. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the formal inauguration of the association’s activities for the year. In a unique twist, the inauguration also included the unveiling of a poster showcasing the past achievements of the Commerce Association, reflecting its dynamic and impactful role in fostering academic and extracurricular excellence.
In his introductory remarks, Prof Ishwar Gowda emphasized the importance of the Commerce Association in creating a platform for students to enhance their skills, both academically and professionally. He lauded the efforts of the association and encouraged active participation from all students.
The chief guest, Sinu Abraham, delivered an insightful address on the significance of commerce education in today’s rapidly evolving global economy. He highlighted various opportunities available in the field of commerce, encouraging students to seize them with determination and focus. Abraham’s words were a source of inspiration for the budding commerce students, as he emphasized the need to stay updated and adaptable in the ever-changing business environment.
The president of the ceremony, Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira, also addressed the gathering, commending the enthusiasm and participation of the students in association activities. He stressed the importance of student engagement in such platforms for their holistic development and assured the association of the college’s continued support in all its endeavours.
The formal inauguration concluded with a vote of thanks by Soundarya AP, secretary of the Commerce Association, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, students, and staff members for their support and participation.
The event was professionally compered by Avitha, who ensured the smooth flow of the programme.
Following the inauguration, an inter-class Mad Ads competition was organized, adding a creative flair to the event. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from various classes, with students showcasing their talent in advertising through innovative and entertaining performances.
