Mangaluru, Sep 13: The Installation Ceremony of the Leo Cabinet 2024 of Leo Club RMB was held at School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya and was marked by great enthusiasm and a sense of purpose.

The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Lion Sandra Crasta, president of the Lions Club Balmatta; Dr Kiran Prasad, the chief guest; Leo Lion Kavan Kubevoor; District Leo vice president Rishal; Leo advisors Linet D’Souza and Sarik Ankitha; and Leo District social media coordinator Shivani S. The presence of these esteemed guests added to the grandeur of the ceremony, as did the attendance of Leo members and other invitees.

The ceremony commenced with a solemn prayer, invoking blessings and guidance for the upcoming year and the newly installed cabinet. Following this, the attendees rose to honour the national flag through the flag salutation, paying tribute to the nation. In the spirit of unity and peace, a moment of silence was observed, dedicated to world peace, reflecting the Leo Club’s commitment to creating a better world through service.

The Immediate past president, Leo Saifana Shaikh, formally brought the meeting to order, signifying the beginning of the proceedings. The members then recited the Leo pledge, reaffirming their dedication to service, leadership, and opportunity, which are the core values of the Leo Club.

Leo Alex then delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the dignitaries, fellow Leos, and guests. His words highlighted the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork that had led to the success of the Leo club so far and set the tone for the exciting year ahead. The traditional lighting of the lamp followed, performed by the dignitaries, symbolizing the light of knowledge, service, and hope, which the club seeks to spread within the community.

One of the key moments of the ceremony was the introduction of the newly appointed club officers by Shivani S, the Leo District social media coordinator. The new cabinet comprises Jonathan Alex Pias as president, Mithali Karkera as vice president, Halima Shaza as secretary, and Dani Sam Saji as treasurer. This new leadership team was warmly received by the audience, who applauded their willingness to serve and lead the club in the year to come.

The highlight of the ceremony was the induction of 63 new Leo members along with the new cabinet, conducted by Leo Lion Kavan Kubevoor. During his address, Kavan Kubevoor emphasized the purpose of being a Leo, encouraging the newly inducted members to embrace their roles as leaders and contributors to society. He reminded everyone that being part of the Leo movement is not just a title but a responsibility to foster positive change in the world. His inspiring words resonated with the audience, especially the new members, who were eager to begin their journey as Leos.

In his acceptance speech, the newly installed president, Jonathan Alex Pias, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing cabinet and the members of the club for entrusting him with this responsibility. He outlined his vision for the year ahead, focusing on improving societal conditions, creating a significant impact through various activities, and prioritizing safety and awareness programs for marginalized communities. Jonathan’s words reflected his passion for service and his commitment to making a lasting difference in the community.

Dr Kiran Prasad, the chief guest, delivered a motivating address, congratulating the newly installed cabinet and encouraging them to continue their valuable work. He spoke about the importance of youth leadership in addressing social issues and commended the Leo Club for its ongoing efforts to contribute to the betterment of society. His message was one of encouragement and optimism, urging the new members to carry forward the legacy of the club with dedication.

Leo Saifana Shaikh, the outgoing president, also addressed the audience, sharing her reflections on her time as president and the achievements of the club under her leadership. She expressed confidence in the new cabinet, particularly in president Jonathan, and wished them success for the future. Her speech was filled with gratitude for her team and the support she received during her term.

Following the speeches, Lion Sandra Crasta, president of the Lions Club Balmatta, felicitated the newly installed cabinet and acknowledged the important role they play in the community. She encouraged them to continue upholding the values of service and leadership that define the Leo and Lions Clubs. District Leo vice president Rishal also offered his felicitations, sharing his insights on the responsibilities of the new cabinet and the importance of working together as a team to achieve their goals.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by secretary Halima Shaza. She expressed her sincere appreciation to the dignitaries, members, and guests for their presence and support. Her words reflected the collective gratitude of the entire Leo club for the opportunity to serve and lead in the coming year.
