Mangaluru: Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy's NSS unit inaugurated

Mangaluru, Aug 24: Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy NSS unit under the NSS cell of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru was inaugurated by Raghavendra, inspector of police, Kavoor police station at Vidyajyothi Primary School, Jyothinagar, Kavoor, on August 22. The programme was presided over by Dr L Gladson Jose, principal of the institution. The camp with 100 NSS volunteers headed by the programme officer Prof K Bharathi has begun with a prayer song by NSS volunteers and lamp lighting by dignitaries on the dais. The chief guest Ragavendra talked about the social responsibility of students in preventing drug addiction, crime and social media threats.

Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, chairman of Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Professional Council and syndicate member, RGUHS appreciated the work of physiotherapy volunteers. Also appreciated the service of school administration and support of corporator in the development of the school. Guest of honor Sarath the corporator, Kunjathbail spoke on need of younger generation for the welfare of nation. Dr Gladson spoke about the motto of NSS and the role of students in community-oriented services. The various activities of camp are health survey, Shramadhana, health awareness programme, sports and cultural competitions for school children, free eye checkup, physiotherapy, speech and hearing treatment for the needy after screening. The camp's valedictory is on August 30.

Sr Vijaya, headmistress of Vidyajyothi High School, Sr Naveeta, headmistress of Vidyajyothi Primary School, Mallanna, School welfare, faculty members of Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy Prof Vaishali, Jitto C Jayan, Anjana and Amin Divya were present. Prof Hima Urmila Shetty, chairperson, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust and Dr Divyanjali Shetty, trustee conveyed their best wishes for the success of the camp.
