Udupi, Aug 16: Christ School, Manipal celebrated India's Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotism, paying tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our nation's independence. The event began with the hoisting of the Indian national flag by esteemed guests, Dr Tom Devasia, professor and unit chief of Cardiology at KMC Manipal, correspondent Fr Romeo Lewis , principal Eliza Vaz, and the Managing Committee members, followed by the national anthem.
Students from classes 6 to 10 participated in a disciplined and unified drill. The ceremony was expertly managed by Samruddhi N Borkar and Alister Sam Andrade, with Yogesh and Senora proposing the vote of thanks for their respective programs. The cultural program featured patriotic songs and dances performed by the students, filling the atmosphere with national pride. A skit was performed, emphasizing the importance of working for the nation, regardless of gender, followed by a fancy dress event where students dressed as freedom fighters and spoke about the challenges they faced for the sake of freedom.
Correspondent, principal, and chief guest delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of independence and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters, while students also shared speeches on the significance of Independence Day. The celebration was a grand success, fostering a sense of national pride and unity among students and teachers alike as they remembered the sacrifices of freedom fighters and renewed commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous India.
