Mangaluru, Jul 31: The farewell programme for the outgoing students of St Aloysius ITI of the academic year 2022-24 and 2023-24 was held on July 30, in the college auditorium.

The chief guest for the programme was Dr Praveen Martis SJ vice chancellor, St Aloysius Deemed to be University, Mangaluru. The guests of honour for the programme were Sunil Kumar M N Area Service in charge, Jaquar company and Naveen Rasquinha president, St Aloysius ITI alumni association, Mangaluru. The programme was presided by Fr Melwyn Pinto SJ, rector St Aloysius institutions, Mangalore. Fr John D’Souza SJ, director - St Aloysius ITI, Roshan D’Souza principal, Alwyn Menezes - vice principal, Noel Lobo training officer and Padmavathi, convener of the programme were present.

The programme commenced with a prayer song which was led by Wilson N, JTO.

Padmavathi, convener of the programme escorted the dignitaries to the dais. Akvil, student of MMV 1st year extended a cordial welcome to the gathering.

Roshan D’Souza, principal of St Aloysius ITI was felicitated for his 25 years of service in the institution. The felicitation ceremony was conducted by Noel Lobo.

A proposal to start skill academy under St Aloysius Deemed to be University at St Aloysius ITI was handed over to Dr Praveen Martis SJ by Fr John D’Souza SJ.

Chief guest Dr Praveen Martis SJ addressed the gathering by saying, “I too am from a village like your principal, look at us, you can learn how to succeed in life. You have a lot to learn from the Guru. Guru's life is a role model for you and you should realise your dreams. This institute is like a mother to you and you should know what ITI has done for you when you leave this institution. All the staffs are working together in this institution as a team, so this institution has grown to this extent. You should be self-employed and start your own company."

"We are learning throughout our lives," he said. He also said about five characteristics Kakacheshta, Bakodhyana, Swadanidra, Alpahari, Grihatagi" Kakacheshta means to persevere in life, Bakodhya means to concentrate and focus on the big dreams, Swadanidra means to always be alert, Alpahari means to hear good, speak good and see good, Grihatagi means comfort. He wished students good luck for their future.

A dance was performed by MRAC 1st year students.

The graduating students were honoured by the shawl and the certificate. The certificate distribution ceremony to the students was led by Alwyn Menezes vice principal, Vanditha Rego - JTO and Ashwin D’Souza, JTO.

Abdul Waris, student of MRAC 2nd year and Privisha Shainy D’Souza, student of EM 2nd year spoke a few words along with other students on behalf of the graduating students and thanked the institution for providing the best training and ample opportunities for the development of students.

During the academic year training was given to the plumber students by the Jaquar Company and the tool kit was distributed to the plumber students during the programme.

A song was sung by MRAC 1st year students.

In his presidential address, “On occasion of 25 years of service, Roshan D’Souza was appreciated. He has compassion and concern for the students. Now Aloysius institution is Deemed to be University. Also, ITI Institute is also a major affiliate with Aloysius University. As trainees, you should try to achieve what you want to achieve in society when you leave here, after you get a job, do not forget the institution you studied in. Remember the sacrifices of teachers and adopt the values taught by them in your future life. You are all brilliant and you are going to build your career, you must be proud of yourself. After some years come back and say thank you to your teachers for what they have done for you.” I wish you all the best, he added.

Padmavathi, convener of the programme proposed the vote of thanks.
