Mangaluru, Jul 27: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru fittingly honoured the grandparents with a celebration on July 26 hosted by the kindergarten children. The celebration began with a prayer dance, imploring God to abundantly bless the grandparents. The guests Dr Susan Rasquinha, consultant paediatrician, Yenepoya Nursing Home, Mangaluru and Dr Victor Rasquinha, freelance gynaecologist, Mangaluru were fondly welcomed and introduced by the students.
The cultural programme was an assemblage of languages showcased in dance drama which was a feast to the eyes of the grandparents. The grandparents felt proud when they saw their grandchildren performing their best to them.
The guest Dr Susan Rasquinha, at the outset, appreciated and applauded the meticulous effort of the students and their mentors. She, in her speech, cited the significance of grandparents and the role they play in the life of the third generation.
The principal Sr Melissa was overwhelmed to witness an august gathering of grandparents. In her message, she mentioned how the grandchildren turn the houses into homes for the old and the young and also how the grandparents can maintain a healthy, youthful and joyful life by nurturing this beautiful relationship.
The little MCs of the celebration confidently took over the ceremony. The students of UKG accorded a heartfelt gratitude. Teacher Neetha conducted games full of fun, frolic and competition. Refreshments were served at the end of the programme.
The entrance of the auditorium was adorned with photographs of students with their grandparents, creating a nostalgic display. An exhibition of the antiques used by the grandparents added a vintage charm to the auditorium. The whole atmosphere was filled with an aura of gladness, satisfaction, creativity and gratitude.
