Puttur, Jul 22: Samruddhi Chowta (II ECBA) an Army NCC cadet from St Philomena PU College, Puttur, participated in the All India Special Basic Mountaineering Training conducted by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS) in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.
She has been selected for the upcoming main mountaineering training, making her one of the few cadets from Karnataka to achieve this feat.
During the training, the cadets climbed the 15,700 ft 'Shithidhar' peak in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, under the guidance of the director general, New Delhi. The basic mountaineering training aimed to inculcate an adventurous lifestyle in the cadets through peak climbing. Out of 48 NCC cadets who participated, Samruddhi successfully completed the training and was honored with the 'Best Rope Team' award.
The correspondent Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions, and the principal, Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, of St Philomena PU College, Puttur, jointly congratulated Samruddhi Chowta on her achievement and wished her all the best for the upcoming main climb. They acknowledged the guidance and training provided by Capt Johnson David Sequeira, the NCC officer, which contributed to her success.
