Moodbidri, Jul 17: The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was celebrated on July 13 with great enthusiasm and reverence. This day also marks the Foundation Day of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation which was founded by Venerable Mother Veronica the Foundress of the Apostolic Carmel in 1868 July 16 at Bayonne France.
The day began with a solemn Mass in the school auditorium which was officiated by Fr Anup Fernandes OCD, who delivered a heartfelt homily emphasizing the virtues of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the importance of faith and humility to be practiced by all. During the Mass the Carmel Blossoms took an oath to be part of the Carmelite community as they received their blossom badges. Scapulars were also distributed to everyone present.
A cultural programme was organized in the school auditorium. The guests of the day included Fr Anup Fernandes OCD, Sr Maria Gracilda AC the principal, Sr Preena the vice principal, Sr Ranitha, and Sr Rosy the coordinators. The celebration continued with a well-organized program starting with a prayer song accompanied by a prayer dance. The gathering was warmly welcomed followed by a welcome dance. A highlight of the event was a brief enactment that depicted the significance of Mother Mary and Mount Carmel. Additionally, a video showcasing the history of Mount Carmel was presented.
Various dances were performed to seek blessings and express gratitude for the protection of Mother Mary. Addressing the students the chief guest of the day Fr Anup Fernandes OCD, spoke about the meaning of Carmel emphasizing its beauty, serenity, nurturing environment, positivity, and the importance of physical activity.
Sr Maria Gracilda the principal enlightened the students with a real-life incident illustrating the change in a child's attitude towards his mother. She also engaged the students with some interactive questions.
A memento was presented to the chief guest Fr Anup Fernandes OCD. During the program certificates were awarded to Tr. Shaila for completing the course in Cubs and Tr. Lavina for completing the course in Bulbuls. The dedication and talent of the students were evident in every act earning them thunderous applause from the audience.
The masters of ceremony Manvith Bhandary, Nishma N Hegde, did a commendable job in hosting the event. Sharvi delivered the welcome speech and the vote of thanks was given by Christal Sequeira and Valen John Dcosta.
On the occasion of the Carmel feast a family gathering was organized for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the entire Carmel family by the management of the Carmel sisters. Games conducted by Sr Rosy added to the joy of everyone present. It was a delightful moment to share a family meal filled with love.
The Carmel feast celebration concluded with hearts full of gratitude and memories cherished marking a day of unity, joy, and heartfelt togetherness among the Carmel family.
