Mangaluru, Jul 13: Holy Spirit English Medium School, Mukka joined hands with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Mangalore POL Terminal in celebrating ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ imitative by planting saplings and conducting various events connected with the environment.
The ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ is a special initiative initiated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India as a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, aimed at mainstreaming sanitation and cleanliness in all ministries and their programs in the Government if India- a Step towards making the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Major G C Rajashekar, DGM- Installation, HPCL, Mangalore POL terminal was present as the chief guest administered the 'Swachhata Pledge' to the students. Sr Kavya SND, the headmistress of the school briefed about the school initiates towards protecting the environment. Fr Stany Pinto, the correspondent of the school thanked the HPCL management for choosing this school for ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ imitative. As part of this program various week long activities were conducted and prizes were distributed. This initiative was further enhanced by a tree plantation drive in the school premises. Fruit bearing saplings were also distributed to the students.
During this event HPCL officials such as Manohar Pallivila, manager operations, Nuthan S Shetty, chief secretarial assistant, Fredrick D'Souza-HPCL, Manohar Rai-HPCL were present during the occasion. Simon Rodrigues, parish pastoral vice president of Holy Spirit Church, Mukka graced the occasion with his presence. The entire event was orchestrated by the students with the help of school teaching staff.
