Mangaluru, Jul 10: The two-day national level workshop on 'Advanced Multivariate Data Analysis Techniques Using SPSS & AMOS' by Dr Murugan Pattusamy at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), was definitely a game changer and eye-opener to all the budding researchers in the field of commerce and management.
Dr Murugan Pattusamy, conducted the workshop sessions over two days on July 5 and 6, covering essential topics such as overview of multivariate data analysis techniques, multiple regression and multivariate regression analysis, logistic regression analysis and Exploratory factor analysis, introduction to Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), Mediation and moderation analysis.
The sessions included hands-on training on CFA and SEM, with participants appreciating Dr Murugan Pattusamy’s clarity and effective impactful teaching skills.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session on July 6. The session commenced with a prayer led by Jamsheer, assistant professor, department of commerce, YIASCM. Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza, chairperson and associate professor of the department of commerce, Mangalore University, served as the chief guest, and Dr Murugan Pattusamy, assistant professor at the School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad, was the guest of honour for the valedictory programme.The ceremony was presided over by Pro Arun A Bhagwath principal, dean- faculty of science, YIASCM, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) Mangaluru, alongside other esteemed guests, including Dr Shareena P, vice principal and dean of faculty of commerce & management, YIASCM, Dr Jeevan Raj and Narayan Sukumar, vice principals of YIASCM and Dr Niyaz Panakaje, coordinator of YEN-REFINED, YIASCM, followed by a welcome address by Rovina Sharon Soans, assistant professor, department of management, YIASCM.
During the valedictory session, the chief guest Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza emphasized on the multifaceted nature of research and the profound responsibilities of researchers. She explained that research demanded a deep understanding and a commitment to meaningful contributions in academia. Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza pointed out that social science researchers explained human behaviour and the dynamics of commerce, business, and economics, shedding light on economic functioning and societal changes. Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza’s motivational talk reminded us of the noble pursuit of research and its significant impact on understanding and shaping the world.
Dr Murugan Pattusamy, the guest of honour, highlighted the importance of education and research, leaving a significant impact on the participants. He emphasized that education serves as the foundation for personal and societal growth. His insights inspired the participants to value and pursue education and research with greater dedication. Followed by that was the principal, Prof Arun A. Bhagwath’s presidential remarks, who congratulated the team YEN-REFINED for organising the workshop. He spoke about the importance of research knowledge and emphasized the need for continuous learning and updating, in order to meet global standards. Prof Bhagwath encouraged participants to publish their work in top-tier journals, highlighting that such efforts would significantly contribute for the betterment of society. His remarks inspired the participants, motivating them to pursue excellence in their research endeavors and to strive for publication in prestigious journals, understanding the broader impact their work could have on the society.
Divya Periera from St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and Keerthi Nair from Mangalore University shared the feedback about the session. They also mentioned that the workshop was incredibly well-organized and managed, making it a valuable and enjoyable experience for all attendees. The session ended with Babitha Shali Lasrado, research scholar, YEN-REFINED, YIASCM, overseeing the distribution of certificates to 64 participants. The vote of thanks was graciously presented by Bazigha, Research Scholar, YEN-REFINED, YIASCM.
The event was co-ordinated by Dr Niyaz Panakaje, associate professor & coordinator of YEN-REFINED, with the assistance Dr Shakira Irfana, associate professor of YEN-REFINED, hosting the session, full-time research scholars and research interns of YEN-REFINED. The workshop concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a successful and enriching two-day national level workshop. Participants left with enhanced skills and a renewed commitment in advancing their research careers, expressing their gratitude to the dedicated efforts of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).
