Mangaluru, Jul 8: The silver jubilee year of Padua PU College was inaugurated recently.
The correspondent of Padua Educational Institutions, Fr Walter D'Souza congratulated the newly appointed cabinet members and requested them to contribute towards development of the college. In his short message, he spoke of the contributions of Padua Pre-University College for the past twenty five years. He also thanked the past lecturers, supporting staff members for their contribution to the development of the institution. Further, he outlined the future plans for the development of the college.
Fr Maxim L Noronha, vice president CBE diocese of Mangalore, was the president of the programme. He also had a word of praise for the contribution of Padua Educational Institutions towards the education of the poor and lower middle class youth of Dakshina Kannada irrespective of religion, caste and creed. He thanked everybody who were involved in the development of the college and wished every success in the future.
The principal of Padua Pre-University college, Mariette J Mascarenhas, read the oath and college students’ representatives took the oath. Mohammed Abdul Azeez, CPL of Padua Pre-University College thanked the students for electing him and promised that he would work for the betterment of the students and for the progress of the college. Fr Walter DSouza, the vicar of the St Sebastian Church and the correspondent of the Padua Institutions assigned the duties to the newly elected council members.
Rashmi Mascarenhas, lecturer for Statistics and Lavia Monteiro, lecturer for economics read the objectives of college academic and sports clubs.
The president of the function, Fr Msgr Maxim L Noronha unveiled the logo for the Silver Jubilee year (2024-2025). Anitha Rodriguez outlined the symbolic importance of each element in the Logo. The silver jubilee song was sung by the college choir. Vinod D'Souza, vice president, Bendur church, Patsy Britto, secretary, Bendur Church, Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, principal of Padua College of Commerce and Management and the campus director, Cauvery T B, Anil Alwyn Crasta were the dignitaries on the stage.
Mariette J Mascarenhas, welcomed the guests. Renita Monteiro delivered the vote of thanks. Anita Rodrigues, lecturer for commerce, compered the programme.
