Davanagere, Jul 7: St Aloysius International School recently celebrated a week-long Green Day event, focusing on nurturing nature and fostering a love for the environment among young students. The culmination of this event was a tree-planting activity, where each child planted a sapling on campus, which they will observe and care for as part of their Saturday activities.
The week-long activities included:
Coloring trees and vegetables green
Creating handprint art with natural materials
Nature walks
Storytelling and singing environmental songs
Making eco-friendly crafts
During the tree-planting ceremony, each child planted a sapling on campus. About 60 saplings of fruit and other trees were planted, accompanied by their teachers and classmates along with the chief guests Fr John Baptist SJ and Sr Katherin FSI. This momentous occasion marked the beginning of their journey as young nature stewards.
The main objectives of the Green Day were to develop a love for nature among kindergartners, teach children the importance of nurturing nature for the future, encourage environmental responsibility and awareness, and foster a sense of ownership and emotional connection with nature.
The Green Day celebration was a resounding success, with young students enthusiastically participating in various activities and eagerly planting their saplings. As they observe their trees grow, they will develop a deeper appreciation for nature and understand the value of conservation. This experience will shape their perspective on the environment and inspire them to become responsible stewards of the planet.
Principal Reena Pinto, vice principal Fr Vinod AJ SJ, and other faculty members were present on this momentous occasion.
