Puttur, Jul 6: The annual general body meeting of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was held at St Philomena PU College, Puttur on Saturday, July 6, at college auditorium.
The meeting was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp.
The president, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, correspondent, Mai De Deus Educational Institutions in his presidential remarks said that the role of parents in the life of children is irreplaceable. Parents should serve as the first teachers, caregivers, role models, and protectors. They should shape their children's development, values, beliefs and provide them a strong foundation for life.
The resource person was Dr T Krishnamurthy, retired principal, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Residential PU College, Ujire, said, "Parents play the most important role in the overall development of their child. They should instill values, morals, and social norms in their children, guiding them in distinguishing right from wrong and helping them to develop a strong sense of ethics. The role of parents in upbringing their children is always responsive, responsible and never-ending." He added that parents should motivate their children to go ahead with confidence and to have self-belief.
Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, principal, St Philomena PU College Puttur said that the parents play a dominant role in the life of their children and the only investment that parents do to their children is to educate them. He explained about the rules and regulations that should be followed by the students.
Jayanth Nadubail, correspondent of Akshaya College , the former president of PTA was felicitated and he expressed his happiness. He said, "Parents should teach their children important social skills such as sharing, kindness, and empathy. They should also help their children navigate more complex social dynamics, such as conflict resolution and problem-solving, fostering their ability to develop healthy relationships."
The newly appointed PTA president, Dr Shriprakash B, dentist, Darbe said, "Parents should create a secure environment in which children can explore and grow without fear."
The secretary, Yashawanth MD (department of biology) presented the annual report and elected the new office bearers for the academic year 2024 -25. The treasurer, Sanjay S (department of commerce) presented the statement of income and expenditure.
