Mangaluru, Jun 6: Holy Spirit English Medium School Mukka celebrated Environment Day on June 5. Children wearing colourful attire holding placards depicting messages to save nature were gathered in the school premises.
Fr Stany Pinto, the correspondent of the school inaugurated the day by planting a sapling in the school garden. He called upon students to do their part by little works of charity towards nature such as saving water while washing and drinking, use of dustbins to drop waste by segregating them, and to be thankful for ancestors for planting trees that give shade and fruits.
Sr Kavya SND, headmistress of the school flagged off the walkathon which went around the streets of Mukka giving the message to save nature. Children carried placards spreading the message to save nature.
As part of the celebration beach cleaning drive was organised at mukka beach, children enthusiastically took part in cleaning the beach side by picking up waste that was littered. This practical experience made students to realise the importance conserving the nature.
This event was well directed by the staff members with the support from PTA and managing committee members of the school. Many parents were also present during the programme.
