Mangaluru: 30-hour training session on UGC-NET exam held at YEN-REFINED

Mangaluru, May 30: YEN-REFINED, Yenepoya Research Centre for Finance and Entrepreneurship Development, a research centre of the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) commenced it is 30 hours training session for UGC-NET exam aspirants on May 25.

Training for the UGC-NET exam is essential to understand the exam’s pattern, subjects, and time management, ensuring candidates are well-prepared to tackle the comprehensive test effectively and confidently. Through focused practice, guidance from experts, and exposure to updated resources, candidates can hone their skills, enhance problem-solving abilities, and get through the exam with proficiency, ultimately increasing their chances of success.

The training session for UGC-NET exam aspirants was inaugurated on May 25 at YIASCM, Kulur campus. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the chief guest, chartered accountant CA Anwesh Shetty, managing partner, and litigation lead at ASCA LLP, and the guest of honour, Kumarsomaling B Balikai (1st Rank in KSET and 2nd Rank in KEA), senior research fellow at Dharwad University. Presiding over the session was Prof Arun A Bhagwath, principal and dean of science, YIASCM, who was joined by Dr Shareena P, vice principal and dean of commerce and management, and Dr Jeevan Raj vice principal, YIASCM along with Dr Niyaz Panakaje, coordinator of YEN-REFINED.

The programme began with a serene prayer led by Shakeel, a final-year BBA student, setting a contemplative tone for the proceedings. This was followed by the dignitaries participating in the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the light of knowledge and the beginning of an enlightening journey for the UGC-NET aspirants. Dr Prashanth, an associate professor at YEN-REFINED, warmly welcomed the gathering.

Dr Niyaz Panakaje addressed the audience, emphasizing the strategic importance of the UGC-NET exam for academic and research careers. He highlighted the need for understanding the exam's patterns and the importance of a well-rounded preparation strategy. Following this, the chief guest, CA Anwesh Shetty, shared his insights on tackling competitive exams. He stressed the importance of balancing the exam preparation with practice, recommending a ratio of 70% practice to 30% theoretical study, and highlighted the significance of familiarizing oneself with recurring question patterns.

The guest of honour, Kumarsomaling B Balikai, provided a broader perspective on the UGC-NET exam's role in the academic world. He discussed how the exam serves as a benchmark for recruiting faculty members with strong logical and intellectual credentials and as a crucial criterion for pursuing a PhD, thereby ensuring high standards in academia and research.

Prof Arun A Bhagwath, the principal and dean of science, YIASCM, who has enriched the Yenepoya (Deemed to be University)’s educational experience, making this institute not just a place of learning, but a second home for all of the staff and students, spoke passionately about the quintessential qualities that make an exceptional teacher and the pivotal role that exams like the UGC-NET play in a teacher's career development.

The inaugural ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Babitha, research intern, YEN-REFINED expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their contributions and presence. The inaugural session seamlessly transitioned into the first training session led by Kumarsomaling B Balikai, who provided an in-depth strategic overview for preparing for all units of Paper 1 of the UGC-NET exam.

The event was co-ordinated by Dr Niyaz Panakaje, coordinator of YEN-REFINED, with the assistance of Dr Prashanth, associate professor of YIASCM, Dr Shakira Irfana, associate professor of YIASCM hosting the session, Baziga junior research fellow, Babitha, research intern taking over the overall arrangements.

The training sessions are scheduled to continue every weekend from May 25 to June 16, offering aspirants a rigorous and well-structured preparation path aimed at excelling in the UGC-NET exam.
