Sharjah: SMMKC core committee inaugurated

Sharjah, Apr 27: St Michael’s Mangalorean Konkani Community (SMMKC), under the guidance of its spiritual director Fr Denis Saldanha, inaugurated the new SMMKC core committee on April 8.

The committee inauguration was prayerfully conducted after the Konkani Eucharistic celebration in the church. The Konkani speaking community members welcomed the new committee with great joy and enthusiasm. The tenure of this newly inaugurated committee will be two years.

This new SMMKC committee is an active and highly capable team of 10 members, as follows:

Alwyn Coutinho – Coordinator
Deepak Lobo – Assistant coordinator & assistant volunteers coordinator
Ashika Monteiro – Secretary & media coordinator
Donald Noronha - Cultural coordinator
Anil Pinto – Treasurer & outreach coordinator
Alwyn Almeida – Volunteers coordinator
Dinesh Gras – Liturgical, choir & lectors coordinator
Renita D’Souza – Assistant secretary & assistant cultural coordinator
Rita Concesso – Assistant liturgical, assistant choir, assistant altar service coordinator
Shaila D’Souza – Assistant treasurer
Fr Denis Saldanha continues to guide and support the committee in his capacity as the spiritual director

Alongside this transition, SMMKC also bid farewell to six retiring members namely Sharon Lobo, Flavia Sequeira, Helvin Barboza, Shaila Gras, Canute Rego, and Edwin Coutinho, who served the community with immense love, dedication and commitment. These members were profusely thanked for their contribution and tireless efforts. A commemorative plaque was presented to each of the outgoing members.

The newly elected committee members bring a wealth of enthusiasm and expertise to their roles. Their love filled commitment, diverse backgrounds and talents promise to enrich cultural initiatives and strengthen bonds within the Konkani community of St Michael’s Parish, Sharjah.
