Mangaluru, Apr 15: April 14th is observed as Birthday of Dr B R Ambedkar all over the country. Lourdes Central School celebrated 134th Ambedkar Jayanthi with great enthusiasm, during the school assembly on April 13.
The programme started with the universal prayer and intentions. Floral tribute was offered by the principal Fr Robert D’Souza and vice-principals Belita Mascarenhas and Anitha Thomas, symbolically as a mark of respect to Dr B R Ambedkar who worked to uplift the marginalised and for social Justice.
Pranav Singh of class X enlightened everyone with the significance of the day were he highlighted that Dr Ambedkar strived hard to help the people to uphold the values of liberty and equality of all people.
The principal while addressing the students quoted Dr Ambedkar’s words that 'The duty must be performed, let the efforts be successful or not'.
'Education is the right weapon to cut the social slavery and it is the education which will enlighten the downtrodden masses to come up and gain social status, economic betterment and political freedom'. It was a clear message to all to grasp every opportunity to educate ourselves and to do our duty diligently.
Finally the programme concluded with the school anthem after taking the pledge. Nikhet Shet of class X compered the programme.
