Udupi, Apr 1: The counselling cell in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS)of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) organized a talk on the pressing issues of “Drug Addiction and Anti-Ragging”in the institute premises.
Pramod Kumar, a distinguished police inspector, crime section, Malpe, Udupi, was the chief resource person for the occasion. With profound expertise in law enforcement, Pramod Kumar delivered an enlightening session, educating students on the detrimental effects of drug addiction.
He elucidated how drug addiction can severely disrupt one’s life trajectory, emphasizing the grave consequences it poses to individuals and society as a whole. He also provided comprehensive insights into various sections under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to the manufacturing, selling, purchasing, and usage of narcotics.
His thorough explanation shed light on the legal ramifications associated with involvement in drug-related activities and ragging, thereby raising awareness among students about the legal boundaries and potential repercussions.
Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal, SMVITM, delivered his message and briefed about the program on the occasion. Institutional NSS and counselling cell members and first year students were present on the occasion.
