Mangaluru, Feb 27: The state government’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about our constitution were prominently displayed in St Agnes College as a ‘Samvidhana Jagrithi Jatha’ (Series of Constitution Awareness programmes).
The department of political science took an initiative to create awareness about the Indian Constitution among the youth through various events.
'The Jatha' commenced with the quiz competition on India and the Indian Constitution which was held on February 20. The students from various streams actively participated in this competition.
Poster making competition, was held on February 21, 2014 on the theme ‘India – the Mother of Democracy’ where students made various posters and displayed in the college campus.
This was followed by an interactive session on ‘Philosophy of the Indian Constitution’ by Dr Roseveera D’Souza, dean of arts faculty, head of the department of political science, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) Mangaluru. She enlightened the gathering about the value of our constitution through her mind grabbing presentation. She said, “India is a country of diversity, our constitution provides rights and liberty for each one of us, but we must know to use it in the right way." She also stressed on the contents of the Preamble.
The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony. All these events enlightened the students to think about our responsibilities as citizens.
