Udupi, Feb 22: In a significant move towards promoting sustainable mobility and technological innovation, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, has joined forces with the Coimbatore Society of Racing Minds (CSRM), Coimbatore, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership is aimed at organising the esteemed Solar Electric Vehicle Championship (SEVC) 2024, set to unfold at the Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, from March 27 to 31, 2024.
The SEVC 2024 heralds a premier competition inviting engineering students to design, construct, and race solar-powered electric vehicles. It serves as a vibrant platform to encourage the development of sustainable mobility solutions while fostering creativity and collaboration among the young engineering fraternity.
This year's championship is poised to be a five-day spectacle, attracting over 25 teams and 700 students from various engineering institutes across India. The event will span static and dynamic events across three categories:
Solar Electric Vehicle, Battery Electric Vehicle, and Electric Kart, culminating in a rally of the participating cars to underscore the importance of clean energy and environmental sustainability.
This collaborative endeavour underscores a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement in the electric vehicle domain.
SEVC 2024 aims to be a catalyst for cutting-edge developments and friendly competition, significantly contributing to the growth and awareness of electric mobility.
The signing ceremony saw the presence of distinguished dignitaries from both partnering institutions, including Dr P Giridhar Kini, Registrar, MAHE; Dr Y Ras Mathew, President, CSRM; Cdr (Dr) Anil Rana, Director, Manipal Institute of Technology; alongside other notable faculty members and organisers integral to the championship's planning and execution.
