Mangaluru: 38th ‘Expert Day’ celebrations held

Mangaluru Dec 29: “What defines success? It is those who empower themselves through knowledge and believe in bringing the best in themselves that reach great heights. It does not do to be ordinary, add that extra and become extraordinary,” said Prof Dr M S Moodithaya, vice chancellor of Nitte University, Mangaluru, who inaugurated the grandiose 38th Expert Day celebration of Expert PU College, Kodialbail on December 27. The day marked an important milestone in the institution’s history; a fond reminiscence of Expert’s growth and journey. It was also a day to nurture the talents within each student; brought to light with a spectacular competitive and cultural extravaganza.

The day was kickstarted with a flag hoisting ceremony held at the college premises. Engineering professional and an alumnus of Expert College, Abhiram Rao presided over it, commenting on his own experiences at the institution and encouraging the students to unleash their potential.

Speaking on the importance of overcoming barriers and excelling both academically as well as in the other aspects of life, our chairman said, “In the right direction you have to put your efforts, then only can you be respected.” He gave his precious insight into what makes a diligent student and called best on them to put in their best, at all times, wherever they may be.

The vice-chairperson elaborated on the significance of the day as well as all the landmarks in Expert’s journey. She highlighted the struggles and joys that came with establishing the institution, thus inspiring the audience.

The main event was truly set into motion in the evening with a formal programme. The principal of Expert PU Ramachandra Bhat presented the annual report of the college for the year 2023-24. As is the tradition of every Expert day, the previous year’s rank holders were feted and the scholastic, non-scholastic, and ‘Expert Super Star’ awards were presented.

An opulent cultural event followed the formal function. There was a range of dance performances, including the mesmerizing Kathak performance and the upbeat and funky Western dance display. There was a captivating drama portraying the much-loved story of ‘Bhaktha Prahalada,’ mime shows, horror shows, and resplendent Yakshagana to name a few, much to the delight of the audience. The showstopper was, undoubtedly, the finale, the Thaiyyam- Thandav dance, filled with powerful moves and expression dancers. The day drew to a close with a rousing dance to the Expert day theme song, one that united souls and brought the final ribbon of togetherness to the event. A sumptuous Gala dinner followed this.

The event was attended by the proprietor of keystone architecture, Deepika A Nayak, trustee and eminent musician, Ustad Rafique Khan, and principal of Expert PU College, Valachil Campus Dr N K Vijayan, IT director Ankush N Nayak, welcomed the gathering and programme director, Bharath Chandra delivered the vote of thanks. The event was headed by the incredible masters of ceremonies by Janhavi Shenoy, Harshini Shabari B Shreyan K. Ruhaan Darshak Trivedi, Hithesh Shetty, Anna D’Souza and Aishwarya.

All in all, Expert Day- 2023 was a resounding triumph, indeed, a cornucopia of talent eking out of every corner of the Kootakala Hall, where the venue was being held. It was truly a testament to the values of perseverance and cultivating the hidden gems within us that Expert imbibes in each student, every year. The day was another crowning jewel to Expert’s memoir, something special that hopes to remain woven in the institution’s future, in the years to come.
