Mangaluru: St Mary's English School celebrates Christmas

Mangaluru, Dec 23: St Mary's English School had a festive look with bells stars crib and so on. Competitions were conducted for students such as Christmas card making, star making and wealth from waste. The spirit of giving and sharing was inculcated among the children.

To spread the message of love and good cheer the students of class 2A and 5A presented a beautiful and meaningful programme held on December 23 in mother Veronica hall. Shanthi Rego, a retired teacher was the chief guest for the day. 

The programme began by invoking God's blessings through a prayer service. Ishal welcome the chief guest and the gathering, followed by the welcome dance. The programme continued with dance, carols and Christmas tableau depicting the birth of Jesus. In the end, the dearest of all Santa Claus made a grand entry dancing to the beats of jingles. The chief guests address the gathering with elevated words and also appreciated the efforts of the students for putting up a beautiful programme. She highlighted the theme on joy of sharing and giving to the poor and needy. Students, who won prizes in various competitions were honoured.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shanvi and Hana. The Christmas programme was compered by Mashkoora and Rishan Pinto of class 5A.

Students showed their generosity by contributing items towards the needy. The collected things were distributed to the needy people.

Students visited Paschim Charitable Trust, Someshwar and Deemercy, Deralakatte.

The Christmas get-together was arranged for the drivers who bring the students to the school through which joy was doubled. A short programme was presented and a token of gratitude was offered and refreshments were served.
