Mangaluru: DK’s first floating bridge inaugurated at Panambur beach

Mangaluru, Dec 18: Tourists now have a new attraction at Panambur Beach, as Dakshina Kannada's first floating bridge began operating on Sunday, December 17. This marks the second such bridge in the region, following the one at Malpe Beach.

The bridge spans 150 meters, accommodating up to 50 tourists at a time to enjoy sunset views. Visitors can also experience the turbulence caused by the impressive waves. To ensure safety, 12 lifeguards are stationed, and all tourists are required to wear life jackets.

The official inauguration of the entertainment facility is scheduled for December 27. Panambur Beach is undergoing development through both government and private participation.

    Hi ,this is second first floating bride was in Udupi,and first blue beach is in padbudra,no one says about this please cover other beautiful beaches in South canara

    It clearly says first in DK means Dakshina Kannada. First was in Malpe which is in Udupi district not DK. Also the news on Padubidri beach is already covered and the news isn't new.

    Excellent news and any new initiatives towards tourism is a good news for Mangalore. The government is delivering . Let's hope many more such initiatives take place as Mangalore has got very good potential. Plesse develop it further amd aggressively as we need speed and scale in terms of development with very high quality amd safety standards

    Hope it's designed, perfectly built, and tested to take atleast 50% extra load bearing capacity than permissible considering our crowd frenzy when seeing such adventurous things for the first time; suddenly reminded about an infamous bridge!! This is just a personal opinion!!

    They say only 50 persons allowed, but if it cross that limit the license of the operator must cancel. Then only safety. Otherwise if they allow more than limit, it will be like our city buses.

    Looks good but the sides need to be more safe as children can easily fall off the edges... As kids will be maximum users safety has to be enhanced with compulsory safety vests, prior briefing etc...

    What about the safety?? Is there any insurance for any untoward problem. Who will be accountable?. Everyone remembers about the Udupi incident. Tourist must enjoy at their own risk.

    Insurance should be made compulsory for such mass recreational ideas as there is a certain amount of risk always involved in it; however much someone guarantees the safety!!
