Mangaluru, Dec 2: On November 29, Capitanio Composite PU College celebrated its silver jubilee on campus. The event was filled with enthusiasm and joy to commemorate this special occasion.
In a grand display of reverence, an honour guard was assembled to welcome esteemed guests, including the provincial superior and president of the Sisters of Charity Education Society, Sr Irene Menezes, mayor Sudheer Kumar Shetty, the president of the programme, the chief guest, the guests of honour, opposition leader MCC Praveen Chandra Alva, deputy director of the department of school education, DK District, CD Jayanna, Joint Secretary of Capitanio Institutions Sr Celine Jane Mendonca, principal Sr Matilda Pinto, former principal Sr Jecintha Correa, leaders of Capitanio institutions, college president Blany Joyston and vice president Elfeeeda. The air was rife with an aura of respect as these illustrious figures graced the ceremony with their presence.
The event commenced with the introduction of the president, chief guest, and guests of honour by the principal, Sr Matilda Pinto, who warmly welcomed everyone. In celebration of a quarter-century of existence, the joint secretary of Capitanio Institutions, alongside esteemed principals, esteemed faculty, students, alumni, and proud parents, kindled the glowing flames of jubilation.
Sr Irene Menezes, the president of the programme, congratulated the college on its 25th anniversary and emphasized the importance of parents' role in helping their children achieve their goals in life. The chief guest, Sudhir Kumar Shetty, praised the institution for providing quality education to students for over a quarter of a century. He added that the college's focus on the holistic development of its students has been remarkable.
Amidst a gathering of scholars and luminaries, Praveen Chandra Alva, the esteemed guest of honour, raised a resounding ovation for the institution's laudable achievement in academic excellence. He lauded the institution for its pivotal role in providing education to the underprivileged children, a noble deed that will forever echo in the annals of time. Another distinguished guest, C R Jayanna, joined in the felicitations, congratulating the institution for its unwavering commitment to nurturing academic excellence in its students.
In a grand celebration of academic excellence, the stars of the three streams shone bright, their brilliance honoured and celebrated. Amidst the jubilant cheers, the esteemed Dr Sr Jecintha Correa, former principal and a paragon of tireless dedication, was bestowed with the highest honor. The enchanting evening also saw the venerable lecturers Annamma Mathew, Anita D’Sa, Kiran Nayak, and Mamitha Amin - being felicitated for their unwavering commitment to the institution and their years of invaluable service. The luminaries who graced the event as the president, chief guest and guests of honour were also adorned with garlands of appreciation for their remarkable achievements in their respective domains.
The curtains lifted to the sounds of a soulful melody, and the stage was set alight by the graceful movements of the welcome dance. As the formal events concluded, the audience was treated to a delightful sequence of performances, ranging from Western tunes to the traditional dance of Manipur. The boys' captivating performance left the audience spellbound, and Jeshma D’Souza's report on the college's achievements over the past twenty-five years was met with thunderous applause. A mesmerizing folk dance and a dazzling performance by the sparkling stars followed, leading up to the enthralling short drama, Bidugade, written and directed by Anita D’Sa. The play brought to light the plight of a criminal and the challenges he faces in society, urging society to be more accepting. The performance culminated with the thrilling tiger dance, leaving the audience with memories to cherish for a lifetime.
Under the guidance of Mamitha Amin, the formal programme unfolded, with Vinitha offering gratitude. The cultural extravaganza was presented by a quartet of enchantresses: Apoorva, Shravya, Maria, and Sireena, weaving a spellbinding tale.
