Mangaluru, Dec 2: In a spectacle of boundless zeal and infectious excitement, Carmel School transformed into a hub of jubilation on November 28-29, as the Annual Sports Day unravelled with an electrifying atmosphere.
The event commenced with the grand arrival of the esteemed chief guest, national athlete Manju M R, joined by Sr Lilly Pushpa - the principal Dr Sr Prem D’Souza - the administrator, Sr Premal - the vice principal, Ashok Prasad - the PTA vice president. The entire gathering paid respect in unison as the school flag soared high, symbolizing the institution's pursuit of excellence and a brighter world. The proceedings commenced with a divine touch, invoking blessings through a prayer song. The march past was a vibrant showcase of precision and teamwork with 6 teams marching in perfect harmony, adorned in their school colours, evoking a sense of unity and pride. As Manju M R took the salute during the march past, the air resonated with applause for the exceptional performances. In his inspiring address, he called upon students to tap into their innate potential, urging them to embrace grit, determination, and perseverance.
With the declaration of the Annual Sports Meet open, symbolic balloons of hope soared high, marking the dawn of a glorious event. The oath was pledged by Ankith, sports secretary Ankith, while Mohini and Wilma, physical director of St Ann’s PU College and St Ann’s High School, judged the March Past. The exceptional performance continued with various sports events, including athletics, volleyball, and throw ball, demonstrating the school's assurance to nurturing both academic and athletic excellence thereby exuding the four Ss of sports – Speed, Stamina, Skill, and Spirit, culminating in the felicitation of winners and a gastronomic journey for students exploring various food stalls.
At the exhilarating valedictory ceremony of the annual sports day at 3 pm on November 29, an aura of pride and achievement enveloped the arena. The event commenced with an impressive guard of honour to Dr Jayaprakash, physical education director of Sri Gokarnatheswara College, Sr Maria Smitha AC the joint secretary, Sr Lilly Pushpa the principal, Dr Sr Prem D’Souza the administrator, and Sr Premal the vice principal, followed by a spirited jumbled march showcasing the students' creativity and coordination. A soulful prayer dance set a reflective tone, swiftly transitioning into a vibrant welcome dance, setting the stage for a series of captivating performances including zumba, dance drama paying tribute to Mother Veronica and various entertaining dances. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as class topper prizes, individual champions and winners of the parents sports meet were awarded, acknowledging outstanding achievements. Dr Jayaprakash, the esteemed chief guest, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of sports and education in shaping future leaders. As the ceremony drew to a close, it left an indelible mark, celebrating not just athletic prowess but also the values and spirit that define Carmel School's legacy
Hafeesa, Mehek, Anusha, Sanjay, Sahitya and Joshua and Angel Noronha, Hiba Anam, Shamanya M Das, Siha Mehak and Amna Asif compered the inaugural and valedictory ceremony. The principal and Deepthi welcomed the gathering and the Administrator and Sr Premal proposed the vote of thanks.
