Mangaluru, Nov 29: On November 29, Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra, with the support of the Volkart Foundation Indian Trust, and Government Higher Primary School Nada, organised a science model exhibition at Nada.

As many as 30 government schools participated in the programme and showcased 44 science models.

Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, in his introductory speech, appreciated the children and teachers for participating in the event and said that the Indian constitution has given equal rights and opportunities to all its citizens to live in freedom and think rationally without any spiritual bias. "As students, we should always think rationally, ask questions to soothe our own thirst for knowledge, and always live like scientists in all aspects. The supreme duty of the teachers in schools should be to nurture the children at a very young age to become rational and creative and to acquire problem-solving skills in order to become dynamic citizens," he said.

Manjula, the President of Nada grama panchayath, presided and inaugurated the programme. Chethanakshi and Siddhalingayya Swamy, ECOs of Block Education Office Belthangady, and Radhakrishna, head master, Government High School Koyyur, Mohan block resource person, Ramesh CRP Nada, Dharanendra Jain, president of the alumni association, and Vasantha Gowda, president, SDMC of Higher Primary School Nada, were on stage and wished all the success to the programme.

Chethanakshi and Siddhalingayya Swamy, ECOs of Block Education Office Belthangady, and Radhakrishna, head master, Government High School Koyyur, were the judges for the event.

Three schools were selected as the winners for their creative thinking and for their models. The first place was secured by the students of Higher Primary School Navur while the second place was secured by Higher Primary School Badanaje. The third place was won by Higher Primary School Mithabagilu.

The winning schools were provided with different science equipment for their science labs. All the children who participated in the programme were provided with mementos and certificates of appreciation.

The programme was managed by the staff of Higher Primary School Nada, the students and teachers from 30 schools, parents, SMC members, and the community and altogether 300 people participated in the programme and appreciated the children’s talents.
