Mangaluru, Nov 20: A grand and glamorous Masquerade fashion show was held at Ryan International School, Kulai, on November 18. It was the first ever event where children between three to seven years old walked up with their parents. The main purpose of the event was to enhance self-confidence in students as they ramped the stage along with their parents. This fashion show embarked on a milestone of tapping the hidden talents of students as well as representing creative ideas.
The programme started with invoking God's blessings upon each one present for the event. The guests were welcomed by Amra and welcome dance by the students. The event was presided over by Jayalaxmi, MA in political science, former teacher of Bharathi English medium school Kulai and an active member of the Rotary Club of Baikampady, and Sandeep Shetty, winner of Mr Karnataka International and winner of Super Star.
The fashion odyssey gave the children an opportunity to live their dreams of becoming and portraying their future dreams. They were elated to be dressed in fancy costumes. The children walked the ramp in their beautiful costumes and showed their groovy moves with great poise and confidence. The parents showed great enthusiasm for designing costumes for their little ones with lots of love and creativity. As conscious and caring citizens towards the environment, they created sustainable costumes that were par excellence. The show was highly appreciated and lauded by the parent fraternity. They felt nostalgic and took them back to their good old school days.
The guest, Jayalaxmi, in her address, shared her opinion about considering competitive spirit as a given opportunity to embark on reaching success in one’s life. “It is also important to bring out the best in children at a very young age. This fashion show is not only a way to portray a competitive spirit, but also turned out to be cherished everlasting in their early childhood. As children grow busier with academic endeavours, their childhood innocence may fade, but this competition would provide them with confidence as well as create an everlasting memory and impression on their lives,” she said.
Sandeep Shetty, winner of Mr Karnataka International and winner of Super Star, inspired students with his words of wisdom by sharing their own experiences as well as providing information on the value of imparting extracurricular activity to academics. “Being a judge of this event is the most crucial role in competition, as it is the most challenging task of providing justice to the participants. Ryan International School has always played a vital role in making every child special by providing a number of different opportunities, irrespective of their age group. Throughout their academic excellence, they have included students’ parents in every aspect of their learning, as it is believed that a child can develop a confidence level through observing and imitating an elder,” he said.
Vaijayanthi Hegde, principal, also said in her note that every child is special in every aspect of life, unless it is tapped or made aware that the child will not perform well. “Our school has taken a leap of faith in providing students with a platform to exhibit their talents,” she said.
In addition, parents provided valuable feedback and stated that the school not only organized a fashion show but also provided an opportunity for the parents to exhibit their talents. They have had the chance to cherish the moments that they missed during their school years.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Devak and the national anthem by the school choir team.
