Udupi, Nov 16: As a part of safety first abhiyan, NSS-YRC-RC Unit of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi and Fire Safety Organization, Mangaluru jointly organized “Awareness program on Fire Safety and Health Safety” on November 15 in the institute premises.
Sathyaraj, Fire and Safety Officer, Mangaluru was the resource person.
In his address he said that the program was conducted with the aim of promoting awareness and educating the students about the importance of fire safety and health safety. He explained about proper storage of flammable materials, regular maintenance of electrical systems and careful use of open flames can significantly reduce the risk of fires. Vigilance in identifying potential hazards is the first step in prevention.
He conducted live demonstrations to showcase fire safety drills, proper evacuation procedures and correct usage usage of safety equipment. He also demonstrated basic health screenings and provided advice on maintaining a healthy life style. Participants engaged in hands-on workshops where they learned how to use fire extinguishers, perform basic first aid and practice mindfulness exercises for mental well-being.
Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of fire safety and health safety, including preventive measures and emergency responses.
Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat principal, Dr Ganesh Aithal vice principal, conveyed their best wishes to the program. Nagaraja Rao NSS-YRC-RC coordinator organized the program. Vishrutha welcomed the gathering and compeered the program. More than 120 students participated in the training program and get benefited.
