Beltangady, Nov 12: Holy Redeemer English Medium School, Beltangady held its annual sports meet on November 10 and 11 in the school ground in all splendour.
The meet began gracefully by seeking god's grace though a hymn by the school choir. Chief guest Prakash D'Souza, physical director of Sacred Heart College Madanthyar was escorted by correspondent Fr Walter D'Mello, headmaster Fr Clifford Pinto, parish pastrol council vice-president Walter Monis and PTA vice-president Supriya D'Souza.
School pupil leader Dhravya Bhandary greeted the chief guest on behalf of the school. Melston of class 10 welcomed the gathering.
Burning torch was borne by Alston D'Silva of class 8 and other athletes, who represented in the district-level athletics meet. Torch was then handed over to the chief guest as a symbol of light of spirit.
School sports minister Sweedal Vas of class 10 along with squad leaders, Allen of Green Squad, Kripa of Yellow squad, Renvita of Blue squad and Shravya of Red squad, took an oath of sportsmanship.
Events such as running, shotput, disc throw, high jump, long jump, relay, kabaddi and tug of war were organised in four categories for high school and primary school boys and girls separately.
Individual championship was secured by Alston DSilva of class 8 among high school boys, Veona Rego of class 10 among high school girls, Shravani of class 7 among primary girls and Shreyas and Arvin of class 7 among primary boys category were honoured with a medal, trophy and certificate.
The winners in all tge events were honoured on the victory stand with a medal and certificate.
Correspondent and headmaster appreciated the participation of students and congratulated the winners.
Lahari of class 7 rendered the vote of thanks. Lavisha D'Costa of class 9 hosted the programme.
Physical education teacher Sarath Pinto was the coordinator and was assisted by Sumanth, Christ Academy school physical education teacher.
All teaching and non-teaching staff, along with students cooperated with all necessary arrangements in making the sports meet a grand success.
