Puttur, Oct 29: The Department of Physics at both the undergraduate and postgraduate studies, St Philomena College, Puttur organized a farewell program in honor of Dr A P Radhakrishna, who is retiring after 36 years of dedicated service.
President Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal, the esteemed chief guest Dr A P Radhakrishna, the guest of honour prof Ganesh Bhat, vice principal, Dr K Chandrashekhar, associate professor in the Department of Physics, and Vipin Naik N S, coordinator PG Department of Physics graced the occasion.
During the event, five students from BSc and MSc programs shared their heartfelt thoughts about Dr Radhakrishna. Vipin Naik N S expressed his deep appreciation for Dr Radhakrishna’s unwavering support throughout their postgraduate journey and acknowledged him as a role model. Prof Vasudeva N from the Department of Economics shared his unique perspective, recounting his experiences with Dr A P Radhakrishna both as a student and a colleague at St Philomena College.
Prof Ganesh Bhat, who had the privilege of working closely with Dr A P Radhakrishna for over three decades, shared cherished memories from their long association.
Dr K Chandrashekhar conducted the felicitation proceedings, providing insights into the remarkable journey of Dr A P Radhakrishna’s career.
In his response, Dr A P Radhakrishna expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the principals, correspondents, colleagues, and students for contributing to his fulfilling 36 years of service. He also shared some of his most cherished memories.
Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro acknowledged the exceptional qualities of Dr A P Radhakrishna, including his composure, constant optimism, outstanding temperament, and exceptional human resource management skills. He highlighted his dedication to the welfare of others and his numerous contributions to student development, such as the SHE scholarship, Summer Research Fellowships, laboratory improvements, and his roles in teaching at both the postgraduate and undergraduate levels, IQAC coordination, and serving as the vice principal. Dr Monteiro wished him the very best in his retirement.
The program commenced with a prayer led by third-year BSc students, followed by a warm welcome by Bhavya D’Souza, assistant professor in the PG Department of Physics.
Shilpa M P, assistant professor in the PG Department of Physics proposed vote of thanks, Poojashree V Rai was the master of ceremony.
