Puttur, Oct 18: In the midst of the ongoing 75th Independence Day celebrations, resonating with the spirit of Azadi Ka Amrith Mahosthav, the significant campaign ‘Meri MaatiMeraDesh’was launched to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our nation. As part of this campaign, an ‘AmrithKalashYathra’ program was organized at the Taluk Administrative Complex in Puttur recently. This program involved the collection of soil from every village and panchayat in Puttur Taluk, which was then handed over to the NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers from St Philomena College.

For this noble cause, five NSS volunteers from St Philomena College were chosen and entrusted with the task of transporting this sacred soil to the capital of India, Delhi. Assistant commissioner Girish Nandhan, in his speech, emphasized the significance of this campaign, organized by the Government of India, in honoring the braveheart men and women of our nation. He noted that every village, panchayat, city, and municipality in the Puttur region actively participated and initiated this noble cause.

The event saw the presence of Madhu S Manohar, municipal commissioner of Puttur, Youth Empowerment and Sports supervisor Shrikanth, and other dignitaries. Rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of St Philomena College, along with the NSS program officers, NSS leaders, and other volunteers, actively participated in the event.
