Mangaluru, Sep 18: The installation of the student council of the UG departments of The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM) and the oath taking ceremony of the members of the council for the academic year 2023-24 was held at Yendurance, Deralakatte.
The chief guest for the program was S L Bhojegowda, MLC South West Teachers’ Constituency, Govt of Karnataka. Dr M S Moosabba, principal, Yenepoya Medical College, Deralakatte was the guest of honour. Dr Arun A Bhagwath, principal and dean, faculty of Science, Dr Shareena P, vice principal, dean and faculty of Commerce and Management, Narayan Sukumar, vice principal and Dr Maji Jose, dean of student affairs, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) presided over the program. The program was compered by Pinakini Shetty, lecturer, Department of Management.
The student council members were then called upon to take their oath of office, pledging to uphold the values of the institution and to serve their fellow students to the best of their abilities. The oath was administered by Dr Arun A Bhagwath, principal, YIASCM.
The event began with invoking the blessings of the almighty followed by the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Shareena P, vice principal, YIASCM. The departmental handbook was launched on this ocassion.
The chief guest motivated the students to develop leadership skills and never forget the values learnt from their teachers and elders. He added that student life is a golden one and advised them to make the best use of the opportunities available at Yenepoya. It is the duty of each and everyone to strive hard and build our nation.
Dr M S Moosabba, informed the audience that today’s education system is technology centered. He advised the students to inculcate technology in their learning process and wished them luck in their future endeavours.
Certificates were distributed by the chief guest to the blood donors, winners of independence day football tournament and Runners of C division football league held at Bengaluru.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Narthu Manu, president, YIASCM, followed by the national anthem.
