Manipal: 12th annual state conference of KSC-AGOI organized at Kasturba Medical College

Manipal, Sep 13: The 12th Annual state conference of KSC-AGOI (Karnataka State chapter of the Association of Gynecologic Oncologists of India) was organized at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal on September 9 and 10 by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr Sharath K Rao, pro vice-chancellor MAHE, Manipal inaugurated the event and spoke on the importance of the subspecialty. Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean KMC Manipal, Dr Pralhad Kushtagi, president KSCAGOI, and Dr Shivakumar HC, secretary, KSCAGOI were present. Dr Shripad Hebbar, professor and HoD, Obsterectics and Gynaecology welcomed the gathering and Dr Shyamala G, professor and coordinator of Gynaecologic Oncology fellowship Program proposed a vote of thanks.

The conference featured eminent speakers from various parts of the state, as well as from outside Karnataka and even abroad. Covered essential topics related to gynaecologic oncology. Notably, the discussions revolved around the prevention of cervical cancer through HPV vaccination, community awareness, and screening.

These discussions were supported by the project PRESCRIPTEC. It appears that the conference aimed to bring together experts in gynaecologic oncology to share knowledge, discuss important issues in the field, and promote awareness and preventive measures related to gynaecologic cancers, particularly cervical cancer. Such events play a crucial role in advancing medical knowledge and improving healthcare practices.
